A Wellington family was arrested for running an organized scheme to defraud. It paid pretty well, too- over $100,000 last year. The father, John J. Black Jr., his wife, Tonya Michelle Black, and their daughters, Tekeashia and Turonda, who all live in the same home in the 7700 block of Rockport Circle in Wellington, were all arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.

The “check kiting” scheme defrauded at least ten banks and eight retail stores. It involved opening bank accounts with bad checks, and then writing checks with the new bank account. They reportedly opened over 20 different bank accounts, even using their two youngest daughters who are only 6 and 12-years-old.

DARLING DALIA – South Florida newlywed charged in “hit” on husband

Posted in Mugshot articles on August 6th, 2009 by admin

26-year-old Dalia Dippolito has looks that could kill – and a apparently a personality to match. The newlywed from Boynton Beach was arrested this morning for hiring someone to kill her husband. There was one small problem- man she hired was an undercover Boynton Beach police officer.

Police say Dippolito was seeking to hire someone to do the dirty deed and Friday night they were tipped off by a confidential informant. The next day she met with the informant at a nearby gas station to discuss terms. She allegedly paid $1,200 in order for the fake hit man to buy a gun- and later agreed to pay $3,000 when the deed was done. She handed over pictures of her husband and their home.

Boynton Beach police called Dalia while she was working out at LA Fitness this morning. When she rushed home there were tons of cops and crime scene tape all around her home – to make it look like he had really been shot. When the police informed her she started sobbing and saying “No, no!” and even sought comfort in the police officer’s arms. She was then escorted to the police station where she quickly found out the jig was up.

Dalia and her husband Michael Dippolito were married last January – one day after he divorced his previous wife. From all appearances, he’s no angel either.

She even talked about going to have her hair done the day of the murder for a solid alibi.

Police say that “Darling Dalia” was insistent and three times stated that she absolutely wanted her husband killed.

Fla couple’s death now looks like a hit

Posted in Mugshot articles on August 1st, 2009 by admin

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says that the much-publicized murder of Florida couple Byrd and Melanie Billings was most likely a contracted hit. Sources say the mastermind was 35-year-old Leonard Patrick Gonzalez, Jr.

An unnamed “source” told CNN that the suspects believed that they were there to rob the well-to-do couple, but Gonzalez had ulterior motives and wanted them dead.

Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan has said Gonzalez once worked for a car dealership Byrd Billings owned, and court documents state that Gonzalez received financial support from the family for a martial-arts studio that he ran.

Eight people have been arrested and seven are facing murder charges.

An Orlando Florida who pretended to be a prosecutor and lived off other peoples credit cards has been sentenced to 17 years in jail. We’re pretty sure she was sent there by a “real” prosecutor.

48-year-old Marianne Marra was sentenced Wednesday in Orlando federal court for credit card fraud and aggravated identity theft. She pleaded guilty in April.

Her co-conspirator, 48-year-old David Scott Hughes, was sentenced to nearly nine years in federal prison for the same crimes. He pleaded guilty in May.

Worst of the worst- Jean Robert Delva arrested for the rape of a 5-year-old.

48-year-old Greenacres resident Jean Robert Delva has been arrested on charges of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation, according to his arrest affidavit.

The accuser, now 8, just came forward on Tuesday but the alleged incident happened 3 years ago.

In an interview with detectives, Delva, who worked at a car wash, denied the allegations and said the family was accusing him because “the daughter is hot and developing,” the affidavit said. Now, that’s a rather strange statement.

American are fascinated with mug shots

Posted in Mugshot articles on July 27th, 2009 by admin
Americans are fascinated with mug shots.

Americans are fascinated with mug shots.

While Web sites such as TMZ and Smoking Gun have been posting celebrity mug shots for a few years now, they’re not just for celebrities anymore. All it takes is an arrest and a trip to the county sheriff’s office. Pretty soon your face could be on your local newspapers Web site for all the world – or at least your neighbors – to see. This rise in popularity is due to the fact that Americans have become a vastly more voyeuristic society in the past 10 years.

Anyone questioning that fact can simply look at the television shows in 2009 compared to the shows we had in 1999. These days, on any given night you’ll have the opportunity to see on the average 14 so-called “reality” shows. Also, just look at the number of celebrities we know by name for being nothing more than a person with a video camera (and camera man) in their living room – Jon and Kate, Kim Kardashian, Kendra Wilkinson – well, you get the idea.

In south Florida, newspapers like The Palm Beach Post and The Sun Sentinel have started posting mug shots on their Web sites recently for their respective counties- Palm Beach and Broward. And Thugshot.com posts mug shots for two or three counties in south Florida and are adding more counties soon.

The popularity of mug-shot-mania are also due to the fact that that reproducing them are cheap, if not free. Plus, they are “legally safe” to publish. Mug shots are public domain. You can’t be sued for publishing a government document.

There are also many printed publications dedicated to printing mug shots, such as Cellmates, Busted, and MugSHOTS. These publications are usually printed weekly and rarely cost more than $1. While these publications seem to be gaining popularity in the past two years, Web sites are clearly the place where people are more likely to flock. This is because Web sites have the ability to post mug shots on a daily basis and blogs such as Thugshot.com give readers the ability to post comments on every post.
